Everything you’ve ever wanted to know – and all the things you never knew you wanted to know at all!

Here’s an ongoing FAQ for anyone who is dying to know about these sorts of things. Check back for updates!

Where do you live? – I’m Canadian. I was born in Toronto. My parents moved us back to Montreal when I was six months old. I lived there most of my life. Then, in 2011 I moved with my husband and two kids to Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Have you always wanted to be an author? – I’ve wanted to be a lot of things throughout my life. I did always want to be an author but I honestly thought I didn’t have the attention span to write an entire novel because every time I tried, I fizzled out before I even made it to the middle. Then I learned how I need to write and loosely plot my story and the urge came back.

Why do you write? – I communicate best in written words. I do fine in speaking as well (usually, at least as long as I’ve had my coffee) but writing is easiest because I can take the time to make sure my words make sense. And that aside, I love to tell stories. It sounds obvious but I love to read and the reason for that is that I love to sit and let an author tell me a story on the page that I can imagine in my head. The escapism – and sometimes the ability to relate – is so much fun. I love to write because I want to do the same thing for other people.

What’s your writing routine? – I still work a day job so my writing isn’t something that spans the entire day. I do, however, try very hard to do some form of writing at least once a day. I’ve done some writing in the morning before work but I tend to lean towards that more often in the summer when it’s nice enough for me to actually want to get up early. For the most part I write around 9:30 or 10:00 pm. If I don’t write/edit/plot then it’s usually because I’m not feeling well or because I am in desperate need of some self care for the sake of my mental health.

Self care? Define self care! – It can look like a lot of different things. It might be a face mask like you see in magazine articles, but often it’s things like watching The Office with my youngest daughter, playing with my pet bunny with my two kids, or watching a movie with my husband. I also love to just sit out on my back deck and relax with a book. My self care is simple.
